Our Story… A Bit Like That Movie ‘Anvil’ but Without the Mullets or Huge Japanese Fan Base. Waster, Mills and Nig were a band called Closer who got themselves signed to the then-trendy but now-defunct Adorno Records in the early Naughties. Touring the length of the UK and Europe in their trusty Yellow Transit Van, Closer managed 4 full-length tours (23 shows in 23 days on their first one, yaldi!), in support of their debut album 'Rules For A Normal Life' by 2004, which soon-after proved to be a self-fulfilling prophecy... Proving Steve Lamacq's ‘Curse of The -Er Band’ theory correct, the band Took A Break in early 2006, citing a combination of fatigue and A Big Guy With A Beard. After a few years in the huff, and a few more years in other bands, Waster and Nig got together to write 'Hunted High & Low' for the soundtrack of BAFTA-award winning indie movie Fast Romance and had a jolly good time to boot. So Closer are now Invited To Go, and despite being exactly 50% English and 50% Scottish, you sometimes just can’t help sounding a wee bit like your record collection, so think early Jimmy Eat World covering Blink 182, but with a Twist of Lemon! The band released their debut single ‘Behind The Lines’, on Valentine's Day 2013, with over 300 YouTube views in the first week of launch. Here’s what the lovely people at respected blog Quenched Music had to say: "Invited To Go demonstrate that particularly Scottish knack for marrying the delicate with the deafening. The track begins to waltz, twinkling piano casting off into ballad territory before a surge, a smash, a sledgehammer blow. Like a kiss that draws blood, an “awkward valentine” puts it nicely, the lyrics and music marrying together well, the sense of being ill at ease inescapable" The band are currently playing shows around Scotland and trying to think of an interesting video for their latest single 'Fraktions'… something involving cats & boobs is more than likely, gotta give the people on YouTube what they want! Right, ta. xxx
