They began their journey in 2009, when five musicians from the lowlands of Suffolk met in London, finding solace and familiarity in their shared roots. Their devotion to unaffected rock, soul, country and blues, pulled them together to share long nights listening to the sons and daughters of ‘cosmic music’. From these attributes the band settled on a name that identified their home-grown sound and common history. Initially a slick backing band for the lilting country laments of Amy Beskin; Paul J Tiffen (guitar), Rye Eden (bass), Nick Swietlik (drums) and Hannah Riches (multi-instrumentalist), were joined in 2011 by Dr A (Andreas Millns - keys) to complete the group’s authentic sound. Fusing together the vital ingredients of classic rock, soul and country from the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Janis Joplin, through to The Black Crowes, early Verve and Gillian Welch. Recorded at East London's Soup Studio with Simon Trought (Jim Reid, Treetop Flyers, The Kills), mixed by the Grammy nominated Sam Farr (Jeff Beck, Robbie Williams, Nigel Kennedy) at Ravenscourt Studios, and mastered by Tim Debney (Super Furry Animals, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, James Taylor Quartet and Lauryn Hill) at Fluid Mastering. Plans for a raging follow up to The Ship EP are already underfoot with a release earmarked for summer 2012.  Drawn together from the soil of their humble backwater beginnings and moulded in the electric heat of the city, The Way Home’s next step is to bring their melting pot of American music heritage and British sensibilities to the UK music scene. With their reinvigorated and modern approach they hope to retrace the echoes of the 60’s British R ‘n’ B invasion, taking their music to wider Europe and back to the States.
